Grading memory foam

A great deal of goods today are made from memory foam which are mostly used for personal comfort. One of the most popular of these is memory foam mattresses. With so many benefits to having one, more and more consumers are ditching their coil spring mattress for ones made of memory foam. The main material in these mattresses is of course, as the name implies, memory foam. Memory foam actually comes in a variety of grades. These grades are determined by certain properties of the memory foam. One factor that goes into establishing the memory foam grade is density. Different batches of memory foam can be denser than others. After all, memory foam’s main component is polyurethane foam and added to this are chemicals to increase the product’s viscosity. As more chemicals are added, the denser the materials become.

Density is an important aspect to check out when looking to purchase a memory foam mattress. You might wonder why this is so important and it all has to do with how quickly the memory foam will regain its original shape. As the density of the memory foam increases, the slower the memory foam will return to its original shape. This also makes for a much firmer memory foam mattress.
Resilience is another factor in determining the rating for a memory foam mattress. Resilience is the amount of spring that occurs in the memory foam mattress. This measurement is calculated by dropping a steel ball from one yard and measuring the size of the ball’s rebound. As with density, you want to look for a memory foam mattress with a higher resiliency. This will help keep your memory foam mattress lasting longer.

Indention load deflection or ILD is another measurement used for grading the memory foam used in mattresses. This ILD rating shows how soft or how hard the memory foam is. The higher the ILD percentage, the firmer the memory foam used in making the mattress. To find out more about grading memory foam, visit memoryfoammattressdirect.co.uk.
